"Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive."
1) This quote is true, since everyone dies in the end. People often get stressed out over something small. You only have one life to live, so it's no use getting stresses out over a small thing, just get over it. This quote means that you shouldn't get really stressed out over something, because after all everyone dies sometime.
2) Live your life to the fullest, because you've only got one life to live, so be free and live your life. Don't go getting stressed out over a little project you need to do, if its not that big.
3) This picture goes with the quote, because the baby was just born, and the old man lived a long life. It shows that the young baby is going to live a long life just like the old man had done. The old man seems to be teaching the baby, preparing him for his long journey.

"Armpit's economics teacher once told the class about a donkey standing exactly halfway between two identical haystacks. Since it had no reason to choose one haystack over the other, it just stayed in the middle until it died of hunger."
-Small Steps (sequel to Holes)
1) This quote is important to me, because it explains how you need to make a decision; instead of indecision. The donkey died of hunger, because it didn't want to choose, which lead to it's death- though the decision wasn't complicated. The donkey just decided not to choose one.
2) This quotation is about indecision. The donkey had no reason to choose one haystack over the other one, since they were the same and he was the same distance from both haystacks. He didn't want to choose, and since he didn't choose one, he stayed there for the rest of his short life, not choosing one, with no food. Because of not deciding this simple decision, he died of hunger, because of one small simple choice he decided not to make.
3) I think this picture goes with the quotation, because it describes the donkey between two haystacks, not deciding which one to go to. The donkey didn't want to choose, and deciding not to choose lead to his death; so you need to make a decision or something much worse can happen. The choice was simple, so the donkey could have lived.

"Communism doesn't work, because people like to own stuff."
1) People do like to own things, and have power. Communism doesn't work. Some people tend to want what other people have, and that alone causes problems. With communism, people will try to tell on others to get more 'stuff'.
2) Currently I am reading a book called "Breaking Stalin's nose", and it's about communism. A little boy wants to be a pioneer, and he thinks that communism is great. In the book, the boy (Sasha) claims that he wouldn't be surprised if someone in a capitalist country has never tried a carrot before, since he never visited a capitalist country before. Sasha thinks Stalin is great, and so does everyone else. In reality, Stalin wasn't a good person. In the story, Sasha is starting to learn that communism also isn't so great, because Sasha starts out as a model student, but after he accidentally knocks off Stalin's nose (from a statue), someone tells on him, and Sasha is getting punished as if he meant to do it.
3) I think this picture goes with the quote, because 2 people are fighting over something, and in communism they take all private property away, but people want stuff. Communism doesn't work out that often, as I said before, people tend to get jealous and want things other people have and that leads to constant fighting.

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
-Laozi
1) I like this quotation, because if you have a goal, you always have to start somewhere. You start somewhere, and make your way to your goal. Eventually you'll make it, but in order to reach it, you have to start.
2) The thousand miles is your goal. Your single step is your start. Start somewhere to reach your goal, or you can't reach your goal. Walking a thousand miles, all begins with the first step, or a single step.
1) I think this picture goes with the quotation, because The desert is huge, but he still walks across it. Walking across a desert is a big task, but this man is starting, like the desert is the thousand miles, and the man is starting, as a single step.

"I’m only a child yet I know we are all in this together and should act as one single world towards one single goal.
In my anger, I am not blind, and in my fear, I am not afraid to tell the world how I feel."
- Severn Suzuki's speech (the Girl Who Silenced the World for 5 minutes)
1) This quotation means a lot to me, because she's standing up for everything in the world, including animals that are killed and made extinct. This quotation also means a lot to me, because she is protecting nature, and so we can all see the beauty of nature, and even if there wasn't nature, we wouldn't be able to live or have all of the things we have today.
2) This quotation is trying to tell everyone that we live in one world. We should share, help each other out, instead of killing one another, killing animals or in war- instead we should work to make the world a better place, not try to be more powerful than someone else.
3) The picture goes with the quotation because it shows people planting plants, helping the world become more green. In the quotation "I'm only a child yet I know we are all in this together and should act as one single world towards one single goal." In this picture, it shows multiple people helping, as if they were a single world.

" The world was falling apart, and the only thing that mattered to him was that she was still alive." -from Percy Jackson, the Last Olympian
1) This quotation means a lot to me, because it shows how much love he has for her. In the book, the world actually was sort of falling apart, but a couple that had been fighting in this world fought bravely along with their cabin mates, or half brothers and sisters. All of them fought for the world they lived in, to keep Earth alive. The only thing that he put above the war, was Annabeth (Precy Jackson's girlfriend).
2) They loved each other more than anything, and it's hard to have love this strong. But this quotation proved how much he loved her, more than anything else. This proves how strong can be, how much he values his girlfriend. This is a bond that would be difficult to break, because they also know each other so well, if someone told a big lie about something that one of them did, of course they wouldn't believe it, because they know how the other is.
3) This picture goes with the quote, because it shows strong love. It also goes with the quotation, because (even though there are no war surroundings) even if there were war going on around them, you could probably tell that they love each other above the war, like Percy and Annabeth.

"If men don't have to control, women won't have to be controlled."
This quotation is from Emma Watson's speech on gender equality.
This quotation is important to me, because it means that men and women can be equal. Men and women deserve to be treated the same.
This means that men don't always have to be the leaders. Men don't always have to lead, control, be the best, or do everything themselves. Sometimes being a leader causes stress and pressure, and can cause mental illnesses. They are afraid to ask for help, because of the qualities of being a "man".
Men expect women to be the supporters. In the quote, "Women won't have to be controlled", means that women don't always have to be the supporters. Every now and then, they can change roles. Women can be the leaders, and men can be the supporters, too.
The picture goes with this quote, because it shows that men and women are the equal, holding hands, neither the man or woman higher, nothing to show inequality. The picture shows equality for them man and woman, neither better than each other. This picture shows that men and women are equal.
